Irina Gorbman is a meditative, metaphysical painter. Her oil on canvas abstractions are powerful, energetic, and paradoxical, exuding a brutal strength through harmonious colorations.

Formally trained in mechanical engineering (Moscow, USSR) and international relations (Fletcher/Tufts), Ms. Gorbman turned to art in an effort to rewire her brain after a mini-stroke. A self-taught artist, her process is a meditation that brings higher energies onto the canvas. The more one looks, the more one sees–mountains, rivers, people, animals—yet all unintentionally painted. Irina intuitively selects colors and paints in a gestural, automatic style.
