Deirdre Imus is a contemporary American painter whose work explores memory, resilience, healing, and the relationship between humanity and the natural world. Working intuitively between abstraction and figuration, she creates emotionally driven paintings guided by what she calls Stranding—an uninterrupted flow of emotion translated directly onto the canvas. Layering oil, acrylic, charcoal, gouache, and natural materials, she builds richly textured surfaces that preserve the physical history of their making. Her work has been presented in solo exhibitions in New York and selected for the U.S. Department of State’s Art in Embassies program
